PSY-106 - Psychology of African Americans (3 credits)

This course presents the psychological principles shaping the personality of African Americans. The course includes a critique of traditional statistics, racial myths, discriminatory thinking and behavior. Analysis of attitudes and behaviors which develop in prejudicial socio-economic, educational, and political systems and ways to counteract them are reviewed. This course emphasizes proactive African leadership and the lifestyle of individual African Americans and their community.
