CCAC's AFT Faculty members are dedicated to our students. We are committed to student involvement/engagement, retention through graduation and success. The Federation is working with the College to find common, reasonable resolutions to the difficulties encountered in the academic world today while protecting and enhancing members' rights and working lives.
During a special ratification meeting February 22, 2013, AFT Local 2067 members voted to accept the wage reopener offer proposed by CCAC. This reopener was required as part of the three year extension known as the Contract Addendum to the 2008-11 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Wages for the 2013-2014 Academic Year are set.
The next AFT General Membership Meeting is scheduled for November 15, 2013. The spring meeting was held on April 19th. This once-a-semester general membership meeting is for you and all CCAC AFT members. Refreshments are provided at these meetings. Those attending visit with colleagues from across the CCAC system, get important updates and learn what is new at the College.
The AFT Campus VPs are your contacts for guidance on any contractual concerns and/or day-to-day problems. VPs will investigate to clarify and resolve issues; they meet monthly with Campus Presidents and attempt to resolve your issues. AFT Vice Presidents at each campus arrange Campus Forums every semester; these are an opportunity to bring your concerns to top administrators. Agenda items should be given to your Vice Presidents prior to these forums. Attend forums to see how they are addressed.
Your elected AFT Officers attend the AFT Executive Committee Meeting every month of the academic year where they review concerns from the campuses and centers. They discuss methods to protect your rights and confirm responsibilities; they develop remedies to rectify any infringements based on the articles as set forth in the CCAC/AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement (Contract). The contract knowledge and experience gained from these meetings provide insight into the College environment. The strategies developed during these discussions resolve many a campus concern.
