NEXT MEETING, BE THERE!
Contractual non-compliance is the source of any grievance. The CCAC AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement is the result of many hours of negotiations and background work by the AFT Negotiations Team, the College, and their attorneys. It is a legally binding document.
Twice a year, the AFT has a General Membership Meeting. These April and November meetings are open to all AFT members. We hope you will attend to keep abreast of Federation and College news, and to take advantage of a chance to give voice to your concerns. (Refreshments are provided.) You are guaranteed to learn something new.
The Fall meeting is your opportunity to nominate and elect AFT Officers. These are two year terms for President, Treasurer, Secretary, Grievance Vice-President and two campus based Vice-Presidents for each of the four campuses.
A union exists for more than delivering a contract every so many years. The AFT Campus Vice Presidents are your first contact people for workplace concerns; they meet with the Campus Presidents monthly to resolve issues whether contractual or not, but the work goes on daily to make sure that the contract provisions are enforced and that issues affecting members of the bargaining unit are addressed. The Local also tries to keep abreast of legislative actions which will impact the College; being aware helps in protecting our members and in funding the College.
