Education

CCAC's programs in Education prepare students for transfer to a four-year institution with a broad college background, as well as skills and knowledge. 

  • Early Education & Child Development program prepares students for transfer to a Pre-K–4 teacher certification program or for entry-level positions working with infants, children, adolescents and their families in a variety of settings.
  • Education Paraprofessional degree prepares individuals to work as a classroom aide or teacher’s assistant in an educational setting.
  • Education Paraprofessional certificate program prepares individuals to work as a classroom aide or teacher’s assistant in an educational setting.
  • Health & Physical Education prepares students for transfer to a four-year institution with a broad college background, as well as skills and knowledge. Students choose one of four fields of study.
  • Teacher Education: Middle & Secondary prepares the student for transfer to a four-year institution for teacher certification in grades of 4–8 or 7–12. Students are offered a broad college background along with skills and knowledge necessary for Middle Level and Secondary Certification.

The Educational Interpreting program prepared individuals for a career as an educational interpreter in the K–12 system. This program is discontinued as of Fall 2013. The program has been updated to American Sign LanguageInterpreting. Students currently enrolled in Educational Interpreting (915) should complete the requirements for the program by Fall 2014.

The Act 48 Academy is a convenient and affordable option for Pennsylvania certified teachers to complete their continuing professional education requirements. CCAC offers courses designed for teachers in a variety of formats including accelerated, web enhanced (hybrid) and online learning options. Act 48 courses for continuing professional education are offered in many of our convenient locations.
