Green

In response to a changing world, CCAC offers students the option of enrolling in the newest technologies related to green initiatives. By taking the 3-credit course, ATE-155 Introduction to Hybrid Vehicles, students will learn about high voltage safety and safe working habits when performing service or maintenance to hybrid vehicles. This is an ideal course for new automotive technicians or those already in the field.

Choice

Students have choices when registering for our Automotive technology programs- you can be trained broadly across vehicle manufacturers or you can choose to specialize in one of our manufacturer programs in conjunction with either General Motors, Ford or Chrysler. Either way- the education is superb as it will prepare you for careers as Automotive technicians in a fast-paced and in demand career field.

In an unique training environment, students learn from intensive hands-on training in our state of the art Automotive lab facility located at the West Hills Center, located near the Robinson Town Mall as well as through web-based training, lecture and work experience at dealer locations.

The manufacturer program combines classroom work with a six to 12 week full-time work experience at dealership-sponsored automotive program with General Motors, Ford or Chrysler Corporations, their dealerships and the Community College of Allegheny County. A dealership-sponsored automotive program prepares students for a career as an Automotive Service Technician in a General Motors, Ford or Chrysler dealership. Working with the dealers ensures that students have the technical competency and professional level to analytically diagnose, service and maintain the dealership products using recommended procedures, special tools and General Motors, Ford or Chrysler service publications.

Faster Results

CCAC's Automotive certificate program can be completed in 8 months or less while the associate degree programs can be completed in two full years of full-time study. Students in our programs complete with two certifications: Emissions Inspector Certification and State Inspection Certification, which are requirements of the programs.

Although in a fast past structure, students learn the latest developments in engine repair, automotive electrical and electronic engine control systems, brakes, suspension systems, automatic and manual transmissions, fuel systems and emission control systems. In addition to the technical curriculum, in the associate's degree program, courses in technical mathematics, English, oral communication, physics and psychology provide students with the background necessary for effective communication of ideas and to enhance future opportunities for career advancement.
