CCAC Computer Technician Training Courses Begin July 6

June 27, 2000 (PITTSBURGH) - Community College of Allegheny County, in partnership with I/Tech, a national Information Technology (IT) training company, is offering a daytime section of the A+ Certified Computer Technician training program. The IT Industry is one of the fastest growing in the world, and the career outlook for those with these technical skills is excellent. Technical and employment outlook references now document that United States employers will attempt to fill 1.6 million new IT jobs in 2000.  Demand is highest for individuals with troubleshooting skills, hardware/software installation experience, and knowledge of systems operations, monitoring, and maintenance.

A+ Certified Computer Technician training is approved by the Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and certifies that a student meets industry-wide, nationally recognized standards of basic competency in the field of computer service. As a CompTIA Certified A+ Technician, individuals are able to:

  • Analyze computer problems to determine whether they are hardware or software related;
  • Completely disassemble any computer for rebuild, part replacement or upgrade;
  • Design, monitor and control a company’s computer maintenance system;
  • Provide recommendations on compatible replacement hardware and software additions; and
  • Avoid unnecessary downtime and eliminate a company’s expensive contract repairs by providing immediate in-house action.

CCAC’s A+ program consists of three courses, beginning on Thursday, July 6 at 8:30 a.m. and lasts for approximately one month. Course seating is limited. For more information, please call (412) 237-2722.
