Lowe's Educational Scholarship Program

DEADLINE: Applications must be received by 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2006. 

ABOUT THIS SCHOLARSHIP:  The Lowe's Educational Scholarship Program was established in 1999 to provide financial support to students enrolled at select community colleges and technical schools. It was also established to provide interested, eligible students with career opportunities with Lowe's in store managment (business majors) or as a sales specialist (for vocational/technical majors). The scholarship program is open to students in vocational/technical majors including: air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration technology; construction; horticulture; electrical/electronics technology; electronic servicing technology; electrical; industrial maintenance technology; machining technology; mechanical engineering technology; plumbing and residential carpentry and business majors including: business administration, management, finance and accounting.

Up to 10 scholarships will be awarded to students at CCAC. Full-time students will receive $2,000 per year, three-quarter time students will receive $1000 a year and part-time students will receive $800 per year.

Successful applicants are eligible for employment at Lowe's once an employment application, criminal background check, reference check, Reid Report, and drug screen are satisfactorily completed, as required as part of the Lowe's hiring process.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • CCAC student enrolled for the current semester in a diploma, certificate or degree program
  • Student must be at least 18 years old
  • Must intend to pursue career in chosen discipline
  • Must have satisfactorily completed one semester with a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Current Lowe's employees can be considered
  • Scholarship applicants who are currently employed by another retailer (Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc.) are not eligible for consideration
  • Past recipients are elibible to reapply for consideration

NOTIFICATION: Recipients will be notified after Wednesday, August 9, 2006. Participation in the spring 2007 scholarship luncheon is required. Recipients must agree to meet with representatives from Lowe's as requested.
