
The Nurse Aide Training program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. It is designed to prepare students for successful completion of course work and passing of the certification exam.
Prior to the start of class, students are required to have all of the following:
Students must register for both courses (theory and clinical) at the same time and location. All forms must be submitted to the Nurse Aide office prior to the start date of the class. Registration is conditional, depending on the outcome of a criminal background check.

XGB 308 Nursing Assistant Theory
This eighty-hour nursing assistant lecture course is designed around several topics planned to instruct the prospective nursing student in his/her role in long-term patient care. Instruction is accomplished through a curriculum approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education directed at: the role of the nursing assistant including legality and promotion of patient rights, communications, infection control, basic body systems, effect of aging and disease on body systems, measures to promote independence and rehabilitation and understanding mental health and social services needs of patients.
XGB 309 Nursing Assistant (Clinical)
This eighty-eight hour nursing assistant clinical course is designed around several units planned to instruct the prospective nursing assistant in his/her role in long-term patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Instruction is accomplished in a clinical setting directed at: basic emergency procedures; patient care and hygiene needs, managing patient environment for safety and comfort, restorative care, nutrition, feeding, infection control, understand psycho-social characteristics of the elderly and preparation for death and dying.
