
Hundreds of people gathered Friday, September 18, 2009 on the Allegheny Campus of the Community College of Allegheny County for the ceremonial groundbreaking of the $20 million K. Leroy Irvis Science Center. Attendees included members of the Irvis family, regional and state legislators, representatives from the CCAC board of trustees and CCAC Educational Foundation board of directors, community leaders and members of the CCAC family. From the construction of the building to the internal “green” operating systems and state-of-the-art science equipment, the K. Leroy Irvis Science Center will stand as a testament to the marvels and possibilities of science. The science and technology labs will incorporate the most advanced technology available, with five floors providing cutting-edge teaching tools and equipment to students and faculty alike.
