Press Release

PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) North Campus honor society has earned a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Pinnacle Award and five scholarships for increasing membership.

The Pinnacle Award recognizes PTK chapters and regions for successfully enhancing their recruitment and orientation strategies, as measured by the number of new members reported in a given year. The number of students participating in Alpha Lambda Nu, the CCAC–North Campus chapter, has increased 25 percent over last year.

Chapters can earn up to five scholarships of $45 each, covering international PTK membership fees for a new inductee of the chapter. Regions that attain Pinnacle status also receive a $500 stipend.

PTK was established in 1918 as the international honor society of two-year colleges. Members must have a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher and have earned at least 12 college-level credits. The organization provides opportunity for individual growth and development through the four hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship.

With members throughout the United States, U.S. territories, Canada, Germany and Japan, PTK is the largest honor society in higher education today.
