To help meet the need for skilled interpreting professionals, the Community Training and Development Division of Community College of Allegheny County has developed a new, 175 hour intensified program of interpreter preparation.
This nontraditional approach to interpreter education is ideal for individuals who have intermediate level ASL skills, and who already possess a degree (associates or above) in any field. It is also appropriate for working interpreters who currently lack sufficient opportunities for continued professional development.
Important facts about the new CCAC Interpreting Skill Development program:
CCAC/GPRID cannot guarantee that participants in the program will pass the NIC tests or otherwise satisfy the qualification requirements established under Act 57.
