
An audience of more than 70 enjoyed a sunny but brisk setting the afternoon of Thursday, February 9 to witness a ceremonial “topping off” beam signing to celebrate the latest phase of construction of the K. Leroy Irvis Science Center. Participants including members of the K. Leroy Irvis family; state and regional legislators; members of the CCAC Board of Trustees, CCAC Educational Foundation Board of Directors and CCAC Alumni Board; faculty, staff and students enjoyed a brief ceremony with the outline of the science center rising behind the speakers.
Those offering remarks included the Honorable William R. Robinson, chair of the CCAC Board of Trustees and member of Allegheny County Council; the Honorable Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County Executive; the Honorable Jay Costa, CCAC alumnus, treasurer of the CCAC Board of Trustees and state senator of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and Cathryn Irvis, widow of the late K. Leroy Irvis in addition to Alex Johnson, president of CCAC.
