The Culture of Completion Project: Degrees Change Lives is an initiative CCAC’s Department of Planning and Institutional Research. Recognizing that relatively little research on completion has been conducted at CCAC, the Planning and Institutional Research Department has committed to developing knowledge and a deeper understanding of the issue of community college completion through applied research and dialogue. The use of data is an important element in a culture of completion. A study produced by the Education Trust (Engle and Theokas, 2010) showed that institutions that routinely used data made better progress improving completion than similar institutions that did not. As an Achieving the Dream Leader College, the practical knowledge generated by this initiative will be used by CCAC and learners in Community Colleges everywhere.
