PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)–South Campus is offering welding classes for the summer term. Summer classes begin June 4 and will be held at the Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School, 565 Lewis Run Road, Jefferson Borough, PA 15205.
Students who complete CCAC’s Welding Certificate program are eligible to take the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 and D1.5 Certification Test. Full-time students in this program are prepared to sit for AWS certification in four months. Students may also work toward an Associate of Science degree in one of several program areas including Welding Technology, Building Maintenance Technology, Building Construction Technology and Manufacturing Technology. The US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, lists more than 125 occupations related to the welding and joining processes.
