Graduates in the CIT–Information Technology Support Certificate program can find entry-level employment in the public and private sectors as user support specialists and network administrators.  Various job titles include helpdesk support, technical support, end-user trainer, network support technician or network administrator.  In Pennsylvania, salaries for computer support specialists range from $30,350 (entry-level) to $46,570 (average). Support specialists are expected to number 23,830 by 2018 and 744 openings are expected annually (3).

National Level: On a national level, in 2012 there were 607,100 computer support specialists nationwide. In 2010, the median annual wages of computer support specialists were $46,260 ($22.94 per hour). (2).

Employment Growth: Employment of computer support specialists is expected to grow 18 percent from 2010 to 2020, about is slightly above average as for all occupations. Job prospects should be favorable. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and a strong technical background should have the best job opportunities (2).
