Intermodal Transportation, December 3, 2012

CCAC welcomed US Deputy Secretary of Transportation John D. Porcari as the keynote speaker for “Intermodal Transportation—Beyond Crisis to Crisis: A Comprehensive Regional Transportation Strategy,” a labor and management discussion which took place at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) Allegheny Campus. Other featured speakers include Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County executive; and Dennis Yablonsky, chief executive officer, Allegheny Conference on Community Development. 

The event was the latest in the college’s Robert M. Mill Lecture Series, Pittsburgh Labor & Management Past & Future: A Labor-Management Discussion. This latest discussion was created to provide a forum in which individuals with diverse viewpoints can gather to discuss how the Pittsburgh region could plan for and build a modern transportation system that enhances economic development and benefits the community.

About the Robert M. Mill Lecture Series

Pittsburgh Labor & Management Past & Future: A Labor-Management Discussion embodies a series of two to three-hour interactive sessions designed to enhance the understanding and recognition of the large role labor unions and labor relations have played in forming our great region.

Recognizing Robert M. Mill (’73 & ’98), a champion of the benefits of accessible education and an ardent supporter of union needs, the Robert M. Mill Lecture Series sets the stage for open communication between all who will benefit from a future of positive labor-management relations and economic development in western Pennsylvania. Mill has received multiple college awards, including being named a 1998 CCAC Lifetime Legend and, with wife Candace, being recognized as 2009 CCAC Distinguished Alumni and Friends.
