Lobby Day

CCAC Lobby Day 2014

In April, CCAC President Quintin B. Bullock, DDS, students and staff joined forces with members of the state’s other 13 community colleges at the State Capitol in Harrisburg to rally support to restore funding to the state’s community college budget.

“Lobby Day” leverages the collective strength of the more than 366,000 students and 27,000 employees in the state’s 14 community colleges, providing an opportunity for the colleges to speak as one voice to the state legislature. In addition, Lobby Day presents an opportunity for community college students to meet their legislators. This year, CCAC students met with Senators Jay Costa Jr., JD (CCAC Class of 1977), Wayne D. Fontana (CCAC Class of 1971) and Randy Vulakovich and Representative Mark Mustio and were introduced on the Senate floor by Senator Costa and on the House floor by Representative Mike Turzai.

Prior to Lobby Day, CCAC took part in the PACCC’s 2014 Annual Meeting, where CCAC student Shawn Hinnebusch was honored as a Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Bronze Scholar during the All-Pennsylvania Academic Team Scholar Banquet and Awards Ceremony. CCAC students Gavin Bordogna, Tinamarie Brown, Pegdwende Compaore, Dominic Dyer, Jencie Jartberger, Marie Pellasce and Rachel Risden were honored as well.
