countries of the world. Though the information focuses on political and
military issues, including communications and transnational matters, these
guides also include geographical information, demographics and other data
of use to travelers.

The Library of Congress provides online versions of the the government's Country Studies
and Area Handbooks series. These books, many of which are also available in the
Allegheny Campus Library in print format (check Alleycat for holdings), cover history, government, social and
economic conditions, and some cultural information. They provide background
information that may be useful for planning your travels.

The State Department provides information on traveling to foreign countries.
For information on a specific country look in the "travel" column under
"Travel Warnings, Consular Information Sheets, and Public Announcements" then
browse the alphabetical list for your country. Here you will find
information on visa requirements, travel conditions, customs regulations
and the like.
