General Goals of Instruction
The Library Instruction Program serves the students, faculty and staff of CCAC. CCAC Librarians prepare and provide instruction to promote information literacy and lifelong learning.
General goals are as follows:
- Provide students with the opportunities to develop and acquire independent study and lifelong learning abilities by developing critical thinking, information seeking, and evaluating skills.
- Support and partner with faculty to provide information seeking and research skills instruction to support the curriculum. The Levels of Instruction [PDF Format] may be customized for specific classroom research objectives and needs.
- Promote the awareness and availability of the CCAC Library and its various services and resources for students, faculty, and staff as a primary environment of access to information and knowledge in various formats.
- Ensure that the CCAC Library Instruction Program meets the Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education as outlined by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
