- National Institutes of Health
- National Institutes of Health today is one of the world's foremost biomedical research centers, and the Federal focal point for biomedical research in the U.S. It has great links to many other sites and its own search engine. It searches over 100 web/gopher sites which comprise the NIH WEB-SPACE.
- PubMed
- PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 17 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.

Topical Search Engines
- CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) Citation Index
- The CAM database is a subset of of the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database that contains over 90,000 references to articles on alternative medicine from 1963 - present. Browse by disease or method, or use the site's sophisticated search engine. Most entries include abstracts.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Search Engine
- Search the CDC's pages for information, publications, data and statistics.
- Healthfinder (U.S.Gov site on health)
- Searchable site that pulls together health information from many federal agencies and non-profit organizations. A "News" feature provides links to numerous online news sources related to health. "Hot Topics" groups links to sites on topical issues on a single page. "More Tools" contains links to many health related sites, including support and self help groups.
- World Health Organization
- Founded in 1948, the WHO operates under the auspices of the United Nations and is governed by 192 member countries. Their page provides extensive information on a variety of health topics, as well as access to their publications and research tools.
