- An independent news source provides unique viewpoints on U. S. and world events. Full-text, updated daily. Includes opinion, business, education, and science/technology sections. Includes an archive section that users may search for free, though there is a charge to retrieve full-text articles that are more than five days old.
- New York Times
- Website of New York Times, one of the most subscribed newspapers in U. S. Offers RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) allows users to track news they most interested in. Archive available in CCAC library database for the New York Times.
- USA today
- An excellent resource. Full-text, local, national, and world news updated continuously. Includes business, sports, politics, opinion, health, classified, and technology sections. Some contents only available online, such as "Day in pictures" and "Video" section. Searchable archive section back to 1987. There is a charge to retrieve articles more than ten days old.
- Washingtonpost.com
- Online edition of Washington Post. Includes sections similar to print edition such as news, opinion, sports, arts & living, and unique web sections such as discussions and photos & video. Audio and video news are freely accessible.

- Website of Newsweek. Besides the content from current issue of print Newsweek, it includes web-exclusive stories, photo galleries, and searchable Newsweek archives back to 1993. There is no fee to search the Newsweek archives, a fee will be charged to retrieve the full text of any article in the archives.
- Slate.com
- Slate is a great alternative to the traditional news magazine and you can only find it online. Regular columns include Hot Document, Human Nature, and Klausefiles among many others. Its news stories cover the arts & life, news & politics, sports, health & science, and much more. Columnists from Slate are regularly featured on NPR.
- Time Online
- Time Magazine online edition. Subjects covered including national and world news, business, art, science and health. Unique photo and graphic sections. Searchable archives back to 1923 are free for Time subscribers. Good search tips section and more help available by "Ask the Archivist".

Navigation is simple, and the design and layout of the site is clear and attractive; furthermore, the site is provided in English, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian versions.

- NewsVoyager.com is a comprehensive gateway to newspaper web sites around the world. It provides links to U.S. daily and weekly newspaper home pages and sections, Canadian and international daily newspapers, newspaper groups, associations and other media organizations, and links to college newspapers and newspaper archives. "Feature of the Week" on its main page highlights an innovative product or service from a newspaper Web site. This site is searchable by location, type, frequency, newspaper title, and section of the newspaper.

- "Today's Front Pages" is an online presentation of one of the Newseum's most popular exhibits. Every morning, more than 300 newspapers from around the world submit their front pages to the Newseum via the Internet. All of the front pages received that morning are then posted on the Newseum's Web site. Front pages are listed by region. Archives on historical significant events available.
