- ACLU - American Civil Liberties Union
- Founded in 1920, this long standing organization serves to protect the rights granted by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. While they will fight for anyone whose rights have been violated, they work to "extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including Native Americans and other people of color; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people; women; mental-health patients; prisoners; people with disabilities; and the poor." The Issues section of the site provides background information, latest news, resources and research publications. The Supreme Court section highlights and archives cases that have been argued in the Court.
- Amnesty International
- This international, independent organization campaigns for human rights that are dictated by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The site features News, Campaigns, Resources & Links. The Library contains a comprehensive collection of documents and news items that have been produced since 1996; the collection can be browsed by geographic location or theme. Of particular interest is the International Report 2005, "which covers 149 countries, highlights the failure of national governments and international organizations to deal with human rights violations." This report features regional overviews and in-depth country reports.

- Part of the international Amnesty International, this national group supports the mission of it's parent organization. The Learn area of the site focuses on the latest news, countries, topics, and events.
- Civil Rights Coalition for the 21st Century
- Civilrights.org is a socially-concerned, issue-oriented site which provides original audio, video, and written publications. The Research Center provides basic information on civil rights, including overviews, definitions, and a chronology. Also included are more in-depth sections on topics like women, people with disabilities, Native Americans, and age discrimination.

- This independent, nongovernmental organization is "dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world" by conducting fact-finding investigations into human rights abuses in all regions of the world. This extensive data is published in dozens reports every year. Reports, and latest news, can be browsed by country or topic.
- i-Abolish: American Anti-Slavery Group
- Developed by the American Anti-Slavery Group, this award-winning website links activists and human rights organizations around the world and educates about modern day slave activities. The Activist Center and News Desk educates and informs, while the Slavery Today section provides fact sheets, special features, and country reports.
- Office of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights
- "OHCHR aims to ensure the practical implementation of universally recognized human rights norms." As part of the United Nations, this large site states the international laws of human rights, and features sections on issues and countries.
- Oxfam International
- Oxfam is a confederation of 13 organizations fighting to end poverty and injustice. This site gives detailed information on how to find lasting solutions to these problems, and provides opportunities for those wishing to contribute financially or by direct action.
- The Southern Poverty Law Center
- Based in Montgomery, Alabama, The Southern Poverty Law Center is a non-profit organization formed to 'combat the causes of hate.' In addition to giving updated information on the status of designated hate groups, the center also gives legal news and provides information on the Civil Rights Memorial, as well to causes such as the Intelligence Project and anti-bias education.
