• 2009 CCSSE Survey Results

Students who are engaged in meaningful educational activities are more likely to be successful. The Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) focuses on institutional practices and student behaviors that promote student engagement. CCAC participated in CCSSE in 2007 to collect baseline information on student engagement for the Achieving the Dream (ATD) initiative. The survey was administered again in 2009 to determine if improvement efforts had a positive effect on levels of student engagement.

    Sharing Information, Using Information -
The survey results will be shared throughout the fall 2009 semester.  Sessions on each campus will be scheduled in October and November to give faculty and student services staff the opportunity to view and discuss the results. CCSSE encourages institutions to develop a culture of evidence-an institutional standard of using data to drive decisions. Sharing and objectively discussing data can be difficult. When used effectively, however, data can help identify areas for improvement so that efforts and resources are allocated to improve student success.

    About CCSSE Benchmarks -
CCSSE clusters thirty-eight of the most important survey questions into five conceptually related categories called benchmarks. Standardized scores are calculated for each category making it possible to compare our performance in the five areas and with groups of similar colleges.
