Learn about heart health for personal and family wellness at “CCAC Loves Your Heart!”
PITTSBURGH-Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both
men and women. To help prevent heart disease and increase awareness
of its effects, the Community College of Allegheny County is
proudly participating in American Heart Month by hosting "CCAC
Loves Your Heart!" at The Mall at Robinson on Saturday, February
23. Activities will run from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Grand
Court near Starbucks.
This free event is geared to all ages and will offer a variety
of heart-healthy activities, including Family & Friends
CPR/AED, which consists of 20-minute training sessions on the
basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and features a
demonstration of the proper use of an automatic external
defibrillator. Among other offerings will be first aid
demonstrations; chair massages; physical therapy exercises; stress
management activities; and prize drawings. In addition, there will
be information stations on nutrition and healthy eating.
CCAC, an American Heart Association (AHA) Authorized Training
Center, will also provide information about the college's credit
and noncredit health programs, including Nurse Aide, Massage
Therapy, AHA Training and the Health Profession Opportunity Grant
(HPOG). In addition, representatives from CCAC's
Community Education programs will offer free reusable water bottles
to the first 20 individuals who sign up to receive fitness emails.
There will also be opportunities to receive a free fitness course
consultation and to enter a drawing for a $50 gift certificate that
may be used toward any CCAC noncredit fitness course.
