Admissions

As an open-admissions institution, CCAC does not require college entrance examinations. To enroll as a full-time student, applicants must have a high school diploma or Pennsylvania GED certificate or must be at least 18 years of age with experience reasonably equivalent to a GED.

    CCAC North Campus hosts a Fall Carnival October 23. All proceeds will go to fund a trip to India for Honor students who will participate in an international study tour in January 2016.

    CCAC hosts fall job fairs throughout Allegheny County

    The Community College of Allegheny County will host job fairs beginning October 7 and continuing through November 4 at its four campuses in Allegheny County. Representatives from many of the region’s employers will be on hand to discuss different job opportunities, answer questions and provide information.

    Community College of Allegheny County’s West Hills Center will host Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The college will join thousands of businesses and schools across North America for the annual event, held to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers.

    Community College of Allegheny County will host a youth town hall meeting titled “Youth Speak & We Listen!” on Thursday, October 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on CCAC’s Allegheny Campus, located on the North Shore. The meeting will take place on the second floor of the Student Services Center on Ridge Avenue.

    CCAC North Campus to present distracted driving workshop using high-tech simulators

    A hands-on workshop titled “It Can Wait! Don’t Text and Drive” will be presented at the Community College of Allegheny County’s North Campus on Wednesday, September 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Atrium Stage and Pit area of the campus. The workshop is open to all CCAC students, staff and alumni.

    In remembrance of those lost on 9/11 and in honor of those who serve, Community College of Allegheny County is conducting a coat drive, dubbed “Notes and Coats,” to benefit homeless veterans and first responders in need.

    Community College of Allegheny County is joining today with community colleges around the country in launching the Heads Up campaign, a national grassroots movement designed to rally support for President Obama’s America’s College Promise proposal, which calls for making two years of a community college education free to responsible students.

    Penn State and CCAC sign Articulation Agreement

    Administrators from Community College of Allegheny County and Penn State University have signed an articulation agreement to facilitate the transfer of CCAC students into baccalaureate programs at six Penn State campuses, including Beaver, DuBois, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, New Kensington, and Shenango. The agreement is effective this fall. Leaders from Penn State and CCAC made the announcement at an event on Wednesday, July 15 at 9:00 a.m. at the Penn State Center Pittsburgh, Energy Innovation Center on Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh.

    CCAC offers in-state, in-county residency tuition rates for veterans, active duty and reservists of the U.S. Armed Forces and their dependents

    The Community College of Allegheny County is now providing in-state, in-county tuition rates to all current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including reservists, their spouses and their children, regardless of where they live.

    CCAC Board of Trustees approves 2015–2016 budget with no tuition increase

    The Community College of Allegheny County Board of Trustees approved a $109.6 million budget that keeps both last year’s budget and the current rate of tuition intact but allows for an increase in the technology fee. Tuition for Allegheny County residents remains at $104.75 per credit or $1,571.25 per full-time semester (12 to 18 credits).

    Penguins Foundation and UPMC Expand Heads UP Program for 2015

    The Penguins Foundation and UPMC Sports Medicine are further expanding their Heads UP Pittsburgh concussion awareness program to include additional locations, introduction of the Pediatric version and a free neck-strength kit to the first 1,000 participants in the new testing period beginning June 15. Community College of Allegheny County will once again serve as host to neurocognitive baseline testing at its Boyce, North, South and West Hills Center campuses.

    CCAC celebrates 2015 commencement Thursday, May 14

    The Community College of Allegheny County will celebrate its 2015 commencement with ceremonies beginning at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14 at the Petersen Events Center located on the upper campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland. A gathering of approximately 3,000 students, family members, faculty, staff and other guests are expected to attend to recognize the nearly 500 graduates who will participate in the ceremony. A total of 2,470 CCAC students are candidates for graduation.

    Dwight Boddorf, director of Veterans Services at Community College of Allegheny County, has been appointed to two national advisory boards, which sought him out for his expertise in serving college students who are transitioning from military service.

    CCAC Massage Therapy students to provide free massages for runners at the DICK’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon

    Students in the Massage Therapy program at CCAC’s Boyce Campus will have a hand, or two, in helping runners relax and rejuvenate following the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon on Sunday, May 3. Kevin Anderson, CCAC associate professor and coordinator of the Massage Therapy program, along with about 20 of his current and former students and several colleagues will provide free massages at Point State Park for runners who would like a massage following the 26-mile race.

    CCAC honor society students will clean waterways for Hays bald eagles on Saturday, April 25

    Members of Alpha Mu Theta, a local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at CCAC’s Allegheny Campus, are looking to get their hands dirty this weekend as they help to make local waterways cleaner for the bald eagles and other wildlife that live along the Monongahela River in Hays. The chapter is conducting a clean-up event for its Urban Raptor Project on Saturday, April 25, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. along Duck Hollow Trail.

    The Community College of Allegheny County is sponsoring a Community Job Fair with the Community Empowerment Association and the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board on Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The free event is open to the public, and CCAC students and alumni are encouraged to attend. The job fair will take place at the Community Empowerment Association, located across from CCAC’s Homewood-Brushton Center, at 7120 Kelly Street, Pittsburgh 15208.

    The Community College of Allegheny County, in conjunction with Healthyworks of Pennsylvania and the Central Blood Bank, is hosting a community Health Fair & Blood Drive Tuesday, March 24 at its North Campus location in McCandless. The blood drive will be held in the campus Student Lounge and the health fair will be held in the campus Atrium between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

    In celebration of Black History Month, the Community College of Allegheny County South Campus Diversity and Inclusion Committee is sponsoring a lecture on clergy participation during the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement. Presented by Dr. J. LaVon Kincaid Sr., a retired United Methodist pastor, the lecture will take place on February 23 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at South Campus Tiger's Lair, Room A309.

    PITTSBURGH—Community College of Allegheny County Boyce Campus student Shelley Spaw has been honored with an Allegheny County Emergency Medical Services Council EMS Champion Award for services performed during her field experience with the Canonsburg Ambulance Service. Spaw was presented with the award at the council’s 37th Annual Meeting held June 12 at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association in Oakland.

    PITTSBURGH—For the fourth consecutive year, the Community College of Allegheny County has been awarded a $15,000 grant to foster appreciation of classic works of literature. The Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Artsin partnership with Arts Midwest, provides communities nationwide with the opportunity to read, discuss and celebrate one of 36 selections from US and world literature.

    The Community College of Allegheny County will host the sixteenth annual College Success 101 conference Tuesday, May 13, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium of the Foerster Student Service Center located on CCAC Allegheny Campus on the North Shore. This free conference is open to high school students enrolled in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and other area high schools who wish to learn more about the college search process, admissions criteria, financial aid and scholarship opportunities as well as other aspects pertaining to college selection and enrollment.
