CCAC to hold Open Houses at all campuses and centers on Wednesday, December 4
PITTSBURGH—The Community College of Allegheny County will host Open Houses at eight of its locations on Wednesday, December 4, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This free event welcomes all prospective students, their family members and friends.
Individuals who bring their high school transcript, college transcript or GED can complete their CCAC registration. Attendees can take placement tests, meet with an advisor and learn about CCAC’s program offerings in the arts and humanities; business; education, social and behavioral sciences and human services; health; science, technology, engineering and mathematics; and the skilled trades. CCAC staff will be on hand to answer questions about admissions and enrollment procedures, financial aid options, transfer and career opportunities, and college services, sports, clubs and other activities. CCAC personnel will conduct tours of the facilities for interested students and their families. Visitors will also have an opportunity to meet faculty and students.
Attendees will learn about:
- Associate degree, certificate & diploma programs
- Programs designed to facilitate easy transfer to four-year colleges & universities
- In-demand careers that offer strong wages & career growth
- Scholarships, grants & financial aid opportunities
- Day, evening, weekend & online course offerings
In addition, CCAC will offer a variety of activities at the campuses and centers:
Allegheny Campus: The campus will feature a Student Development Services Expo, campus tours and a faculty meet & greet with information and/or demonstration tables provided by the Respiratory Therapy, Radiation Therapy Technology, Court Reporting, Paralegal, Welding, Biology and Music Technology programs. Also, Student Life and Admissions will sponsor a ‘Wild Cat Winter’ program with games and prizes from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Foerster Student Services Center.
Boyce Campus: The campus will offer demonstrations by the Nursing and Radiologic Technologist programs—the latter is CCAC’s largest Allied Health program, which just added an evening and weekend option.
North Campus: The campus will feature the Biology, Physics, Psychology and Computer Information Technology programs.
South Campus: The campus will feature the Film Technician program. Faculty members and the Student Development team will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
West Hills Center: The center will offer hands-on demonstrations of the Mechatronics Technology, Automotive Technology and Welding Technology programs. Visitors will get to try their hand at a virtual reality welding simulator.
All CCAC Open House locations are open to the media, including still/video cameras.
