CCAC West Hills Center to host 12th annual Skilled Trades & Services Fair on November 26
Event will include a panel discussion on women in the skilled trades.
PITTSBURGH—Students and community members are invited to find out how they can receive training at the Community College of Allegheny County in two years or less toward high-paying and highly rewarding careers. CCACs West Hills Center will host a Skilled Trades & Services Fair on Tuesday, November 26, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This is CCAC’s 12th annual trades fair, which typically draws 400 to 600 high school students from 50 area high schools.
Participants can engage in hands-on contests and view live trade demonstrations throughout the day. Center tours for groups of five or more will run from 9:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. Featured trades include automotive technology, carpentry, heavy equipment operation, HVAC, iron working, plumbing, mechatronics, sheet metal working, electrical construction and welding. Representatives from Impact Guard will also be stationed in the Mechatronics lab to promote CCAC internships with the company. In addition, the event will include a panel discussion by women who work in skilled trades professions to help young women discover opportunities in the trades.
CCAC offers more than 25 degree and certificate programs in the skilled trades, all of which can be completed in two years or less at CCAC’s state-of-the-art facilities. These programs offer students the opportunity to earn certificates in a short period of time so that they are able to begin working in the field while they continue at CCAC to fulfill the requirements for the degree programs.
CCAC West Hills Center is located at 1000 McKee Road, Oakdale, PA 15071.
