CCAC Wild Cats Basketball Team member named NJCAA All-American

Shy Faulkner NJCAA All-AmericanPITTSBURGH—Community College of Allegheny County Wild Cats Men’s Basketball player Shy Faulkner has been named a 2019–2020 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Basketball Third Team All-American.

Faulkner, a Penn Hills High School graduate and CCAC sophomore, finished the 2019–2020 basketball season as one of the top 10 players with a total of 659 points for the year. He was ranked fifth in the nation for averaging 26.4 points per game, and he had an impressive 73.9% free throw for the season. The Region XX coaches recognized Faulkner’s talents, hard work and leadership abilities when they nominated him to the NJCAA for All-American honors.

The NJCAA previously named Faulkner and two of his teammates to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) All-Conference Team. The Wild Cats finished the season as the WPCC Division III Regular Season Champions.

“Shy is a pleasure to coach, and he was instrumental in the team’s success,” said Coach Dave Devenzio. “If you need a basket, you want the ball in Shy’s hands.”

Faulkner resides in Homewood and is majoring in Criminal Justice.
