Member: Student Success, Retention & Completion Committee
Richard Lattanzi has proudly served as Mayor of Clairton since 2010 and previously as a Clairton City Council member for six years. He was recruited into public life after speaking at city council meetings about the poor condition of youth sports facilities while he was a baseball and basketball coach in the early 2000’s. His love for the town and its people motivates him to meet the challenges of the role.
Born in McKeesport, Lattanzi grew up in a loving family in Clairton where he attended Catholic school and church and played baseball. He graduated from Clairton High School in 1982 and attended CCAC South Campus to take business classes. He started a job with a plumbing company and attended four years of night school to obtain journeyman status. Lattanzi has worked as a pipefitter with the U.S. Steel Irvin Works since 1990, and he has been a safety representative for the union workers for the past seven years.
Lattanzi married in 1988 and has three grown children, and he is enjoying being a grandfather to five young grandchildren. In 2019, he was diagnosed with two different cancers and, after undergoing three surgeries and six months of chemotherapy, is now in remission. He thanks God for the second chance at life and is grateful to be able to continue his efforts to help the needy and protect and promote our youth. He is excited to be a part of the CCAC family and the Board of Trustees, and he looks forward to helping young students achieve their dreams.
