The Dietetic Programs at CCAC are looking for students excited about careers in food and nutrition who want to be an integral part of the health management team, involved in community or public health, or who might be seeking a career change to food management. You'll find the answer exploring our career options: Dietetic Technician, Registered / Dietary Manager. Classroom and online programs are available.
The Dietary Manager Program component of Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) has a history dating to 1966. Initially, a Dietetic Assistant Certificate Program was developed in accordance with the recommendations of the American Dietetic Association (ADA, now AND, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) to meet the Federal regulations for Nursing Homes.
The initial approval in 1970 included options to complete the requirements for Dietetic Assistant or to obtain an Associate Degree in Science as a Dietetic Technician. Consistent with national organizational changes, CCAC changed the name of their program from Dietetic Assistant to Dietary Manager Program effective January 1985. Today students in the CCAC Dietetic Program have the option of a Certificate Program to meet requirements of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP) or an Associate Degree Program that meets requirements of both ANFP and the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND).
Since initial approvals, both programs have operated continuously under the requirements of ANFP and AND. The latest self-study for the Dietetic Technician Program component was submitted in 2013 and approval was granted through 2020.
A successful ANFP Dietary Manager Program Review was completed in 2011 and approval was granted through 2016. The Dietary Manager Program will be undergoing a routine five year program review during the fall of 2016. The next review will be due in 2021.
