One of the nation’s fastest growing occupations, medical assistants work alongside
doctors in physicians’ offices and other health care facilities where they perform
essential clinical and administrative duties. These include taking medical histories,
recording the vital signs of patients and maintaining medical records.
Students enrolled in the certificate program are prepared for entry-level positions
as medical assistants in a doctor’s office, clinic or other health care setting. All
students must complete the certificate program, which includes a non-paid externship.
Certificate graduates may continue their education to complete the associate degree.
