The Community College of Allegheny County has been approved to provide training for veterans under the Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP), effective immediately. The VRRAP offers education and training for high-demand jobs to veterans who are unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

VRRAP covers education and training programs approved under the GI Bill® and Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses (VET TEC) that lead to high-demand jobs. These include associate degrees, non-college degrees and certificate programs. Veterans who meet eligibility requirements for VRRAP can receive up to 12 months of free tuition and fees as well as a monthly housing allowance based on Post-9/11 GI Bill® rates.

"This is a great opportunity for veterans who are not eligible for the traditional GI Bill, and who have been negatively impacted by COVID and are seeking employment in a high-demand field," said Daniel Duffy, executive director, CCAC Military & Veterans Services.

The following CCAC certificate programs are approved for VRRAP: Automotive Technology; Barbering; Central Service Technician; Computer Forensics; Court Reporting; Cyber Security; Data Analytics; Drug and Alcohol; Heating and Air Conditioning Technology; Information Technology Support; Medical Assistant; Medical Insurance Specialist; Multimedia Game Simulation; Multimedia Web Programming; Nuclear Medicine Technology; Paralegal; Plumbing; Software Development; Surgical Technology; Welding, Gas and Oil; Welding Technology. The following CCAC diploma programs have been approved: Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Phlebotomist.

The benefits are effective for the 2022 spring semester, starting in January. For more information or to check eligibility, contact Daniel Duffy at dduffy@ccac.edu or 412.237.2635.
