Are you a movie buff? Then ENG 120-The Art of Film is for you! Dramas, epics, film noir, horror, international films, musicals, science fiction, silent films and Westerns are all included in the curriculum. You'll get to be the judge as you apply criteria to evaluate each art form.

In this course, you will take a literary approach to films-keeping journals on elements such as plot, character and dialogue. Doing so will enable you to cultivate your critical writing skills and develop a cinematic vocabulary.

You will also enrich your movie-watching experiences by becoming familiar with the history of film as an art form and by becoming aware of the methods filmmakers in various parts of the world use to tell their stories.

And because the study of film is the study of humanity, you will gain insights into the world of human experience and emotion.
