Congressman Chris Deluzio joined energy advocates, educators and local leaders for a clean energy tour at CCAC's North Campus on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The event was covered by local news media (see story link below), and the college had an opportunity to showcase the success of its solar array installations as well as its groundbreaking Electric Vehicle Registered Technician Apprenticeship program.

Representatives from PennEnvironment, PennFuture, PA Solar Center, Moms Clean Air Force and Conservation Voters of PA joined Rep. Deluzio and CCAC President Dr. Quintin Bullock during the program and tour.

Dr. Bullock outlined the success of the college's solar energy initiatives: "As CCAC's largest completed solar energy initiative to date, this project continues to be a win for the college and the environment." He highlighted the college's commitment to sustainable energy in other areas, too. "CCAC's leadership and commitment to sustainable energy extends to our educational curriculum as well. For example, sustainable energy topics are already built into some of the college's programs, including HVAC, Building Automation Systems and Hospitality, to name a few. Most significant is our role as the first community college in the nation to offer an Electric Vehicle Registered Technician Apprenticeship program at CCAC West Hills Center," he said.

Rep. Deluzio touted the economic impact of solar panels and clean energy resources: "This is helping to keep energy costs down. It is helping create jobs, helping protect and clean up our air. That's a really important thing, and it shows people coming together here to make these kinds of projects and policies a success," he said.
